A Journey into Dreamland
is best described as popular level science, which means that it can be understood and enjoyed by most high school graduates who have had the usual smattering of the sciences and are motivated to expand and extend their knowledge of dreaming. (Of course, Bachelors, Masters and PhDs also can understand and enjoy it.)
The author, who has listened to hundreds of dreams during the course of over fifty years of psychiatric practice, makes the effort to discover the “what”, “why” and “how” of dreaming. He not only lays out his theory but encourages and guides the reader to perform the simple experiments that led him to a new theory of dreaming, vastly superior to what has gone before.
All natural phenomena, including dreams, abide by laws that are frequently arcane and, some, as in the case of dreams, may also appear to be crazy. Dream laws are elusive and require extensive effort to identify them. The author has dedicated himself to such a task. The reader will decide if he has been successful.
One doesn’t need to be a scientist to savor this book – one only needs to be a dreamer.
