Inspirational Romance

Translated from the Yiddish: Herschele by Jacob Dineson

Herschele, a story of piety and young love, was written in Yiddish by Jacob Dineson (b. 1856-d.1919) and published in Warsaw, Poland in 1928. Herschele, an orphan, is enrolled in a Yeshiva. As it was in that era, boys would be given a day each week at someone’s home to take meals. His Wednesdays were at the home of a wealthy widow. The story takes on the depth of meaning when the teenage boy falls in love with the widow’s daughter, but he doesn’t understand the strange feelings that have possessed him: “Has evil passion grasped me by the shoulder? Or has a magician cast an evil spell upon me?” he asks.

The year is 1977. Beth, a 39-year old woman, decides to visit Colin, the handsome piano teacher she had loved as a girl. She’s hoping to find out if he had had similar feelings for her in the past. However, just before approaching the portico of his magnificent Tudor-style mansion, she is overwhelmed with a series of flashbacks, reminding her of her teenage years – her hopes, her dreams and even her failures. The moment that Colin opens the door and welcomes her in, she discovers something she needs to know far more than if he had ever loved her. What she learns and what she does about it will change her life forever.

This book is about tough decisions, choices, and consequences.

In this book, “Lost Love in Christian Romance”, I have tried to convey that the decisions we make today affects our lives tomorrow. Based on choices we make we sometimes lose things, even relationships, that are precious to us; and in many cases, things lost are not retrievable. However, in this story, some were given a second chance.

Some ask the question, “Why Christian Romance?” Well, God is love, and he created man and woman to love him and to love each other, and I believe there should be more of a dialogue from the Christian community on this subject, and I feel that as a result, the youth of today would be able to obtain a better perspective on how to pursue life. I also believe there would be fewer divorces. Regardless of the fact that we sometimes fail, God is The God of a second chance.

This book is full of intrigue, inspiration, hope, and yes, romance.

A Time and A Season is about a Christian woman, Deb, whose forty year marriage falls apart. During a mid-life crisis her husband. Randy, has an affair with a much younger woman. Randy moves in with his girlfriend, Lenora, and divorces Deb. Deb goes through the whole gambit of hurt and suffering, but she feels led to fight spiritually for Randy’s salvation and restoration. Throughout the novel, Deb walks by faith and though she is brokenhearted, life goes on even for her. She continues her Christian ministry, all the while believing that God will bring Randy to repentance and restore their marriage. In Ecclesiastes it says there is a time and season for everything under the sun. Read about the experiences Deb goes through as she patiently waits for the season when her marriage will be restored.

This is a true story of a journey and a miracle. On December 6, 2005, in the offices of two separate medical experts, I was informed that my days were numbered. I was advised to take more medicines, and get admitted into the emergency room. If not, there was little the doctors could do. By then, I was already on numerous medicines for countless years. I knew that my body and stomach would not permit the intake of any more medication. All my life, I had lived my way. So, I signed a liability release form and decided to die my way. I surrendered to HIM. On January 7, 2006, I was down to just one medicine. I was on my way to full recovery.

It is a fun, happy, and romantic story that is culturally educational, medically astonishing, spiritually uplifting, and studded with travel experiences.

The journey was long and arduous, but never dull. It was scenic, adventurous, thrilling, and fulfilling. It took me through two masters degrees, two marriages, two children, two 10+ year long divorces, a few acquaintances, several friends, some companions, a career, several hobbies, the 7 continents, 5 oceans, 4 rivers, several islands, many debilitating illnesses, several awakenings, noteworthy self realization and a miraculous recovery. Most importantly, it helped me find answers to two very important questions. Is happiness a medicine? Is there one medicine whose purpose is to eliminate the need for all other medicines? The answers to both of which are a resounding – Yes.

Perhaps, that is why I got nicknamed AN – Amazing Nupur.

Isabel recalled many nights watching the news and crying as she saw the people floating around in the ocean waiting to be picked up by the U.S. Coast Guard. They DESPERATELY needed to reach safe ground. “Where the ocean and the skies join it is not a pleasant site.” Alex was resigned to die if necessary, but he was not turning back. He would not go back to Cuba. Men and women sacrificed themselves to the sharks, but only after handing over their children to the neighboring rafts. “Please make sure my child reaches America.” Isabel had prayed full of compassion for these strangers... little did she know that destiny would bring one of them to her for her nurturing and he would bring new strengths of survival to her. It took only for their eyes to meet... two lost souls had been united... Together they traveled a path full of inspiration, romance, family, personal growth and faith. “In this hole as we kindly and proudly call it today, we found ourselves. We came to it out of desperation, forced to rebuild, forced to go through a rebirth. Was there a divine hand in it all? Pain changed us forever; destiny comforted us, altering our lives severely while leading us into courageous and “weak” moments that determined our true value on this earth... to live the full life we now enjoy in the town that means exactly what we longed for, for a very long time... HOMESTEAD.”

Young, happily married, Shari Cutter and Carli Gomez watch the 9/11 bombing on TV, knowing that their husbands are working there at that minute. They rush down from New York’s East Side to Manhattan only to learn that there is no news of their loved ones and they must wait. While waiting, they both ask God to come back into their lives. From that point, God walks them through the process of adjusting and healing that many have had to go through due to that malicious act. In the end, they can look back and see that they were in the palm of his hand the whole time.
