The minimum retail price for print books is determined by the number of pages in the book when it is in final print format. For print books sold at the minimum retail price we pay a royalty of 30% of the minimum retail price for sales from our store (direct sales) and 15% for sales through other retailers (wholesale sales) for paperbacks. For hardcover books the royalty is 25% for sales from our store and 10% for sales through other retailers. Want a Higher Royalty Rate?

You have the option of telling us to set the retail price higher than the minimum to earn a higher royalty payment. If you do, we add 100 percent of the difference between our minimum price and the price you set to the royalty amount for direct sales or 60 percent for wholesale sales. For example, if your book was 145 pages long the minimum retail price would be $10.95 and the direct sale royalty at 30 percent would equal $3.29. If you decided to sell the book for $14.95 the total royalty would be $7.29, which comes to 48.7 percent. That is the $3.29 plus the $4.00 difference in prices ($14.95 minus $10.95).
