My book was written as a result of our many family reunions. After a festive reunion dinner, we would entertain ourselves for hours reliving the events of our childhood. There were just too many unforgettable stories that couldn’t be lost in the winds of time.

Yes, grandchildren, that’s the way it was when Grand Paw Bill and Joe grew up, in a time and place that no longer exists…

When the World was Young.

In a world of uncertainty, the hardest thing for you and me to do is believe that we can change the past.

We must endeavor to preserve the vast array of assets we have accumulated in life and to cherish the knowledge gained.

It is of exceptional importance to me to never forget who I am or where I came from. I have focused on helping others enhance their lives as I did my life.

You will come to observe that within your heart your personal relationships and with God will prosper by making the right decisions.

You can make dreams come true for nothing is truly lost, only treasures in life are originated.

This is a story about a young boy after losing his confidence in life begins a journey at the age of twelve as a helper to a perfect stranger. Only to find himself becoming more like a son to the stranger, and eventually ending up just like his teacher – a landlord.

The good and bad times while stationed in Germany. He won all fights by knock outs. All boxing matches lasted only two rounds. This soldier was rough and a devoted sergeant. The reason he decided not to be a career soldier was that he would rather return to his private life. Before entering the Army he was a Teamster over the road truck driver. He’s now back in New Jersey trying hard to make his marriage successful. He knew his marriage was going bad before his wife came to Germany to join him but he continued to try and work things out. He accepted his wife when he knew she was unfaithful to him. Why, he never knew. The only thing he knew was she was his first love. This young ex-soldier finally divorced her and went on to marry a girl named Lisa who he had met while stationed at Fort Lee VA, the girl he was very much in love with before leaving for Germany. Lisa was his second love. They are both happily married and now living in southern New Jersey with two wonderful daughters.

There were many people I gave my own food to. When I wouldn’t feed myself, I gave it to them freely. I always said God was my first choice; this little Georgia born had much faith in the Lord. I was seriously deprived of love during my early family life. I was married very young and my marriage was seriously going in the wrong direction. The duties that were too great for a young boy. All the hidden secrets my wife kept from me. This little Georgia boy was very strong and brave. He finally met a young college girl who lifted his spirit although he was still a married man and still in the United States Army.

This is a true story of how a still small voice has been directing my path ever since I entered into widowhood. He (yes, it’s a ‘He’) has kept me on top of my way of life and in control. It has been a life of wonderment, sadness, excitement – as long as I keep submitting to Him.
