Maple grew up on the family farm west of the village of Maple Rapids and near the Maple River in Michigan, referenced often throughout her poetry. Though a writer of poetry all her life, not all her family and friends were aware of this talent until much later in her life. Her deep love of family, friends, church, and community is reflected in her writings.
