Small towns are like family, everyone in town knows everyone intimately. You can’t keep a secret for long. You tell a rumor to someone in the barbershop, and the rumor will be all over town the next day, with several different versions. It seems that some in town purposely start rumors to see how fast they will spread. And another thing about small towns, especially towns down South in bygone days, is the number of people that have such great knowledge, even though some of them never went to school a day in their lives. They have an opinion about everything. Small towns are full of “Scuttlebutts and Notions”. That’s what makes living in a small town so much fun. I love it. That’s what this book is about.

What happened to all the hippies? It’s like a whole race of people just vanished along with their entire culture. They had their own language, music, food, artwork, clothing, hairstyles, even their own philosophy which was drug induced thoughts of free love and peace. Herb was right there in the middle of all those changes. His life probably parallels your life in some way if you are a baby boomer born between the years 1945-1952. Read this amusing book and meet... Herb the Hippie.

The all-important American dream. Does it matter if someone else helps us attain it, or what shape or form it arrives in? Just how do we know the door of opportunity is open, even when it is and it’s right in front of us, inviting us, even daring us to walk through its threshold.

Life can be a guessing game, full of good luck and bad. Full of business angles, stock tips and those who we think can’t be trusted, until one day you meet someone and your gut feeling tells you to listen. To listen and to believe, because deep inside you know that the help you’ve been looking for may arrive in either the most conventional, or unconventional of means and the only thing left to do is to take the plunge into the unknown, roll the so-called dice and do what we all fear most... take the chance.

Fear of the unknown still holding you back? Do you take the tip your buddy just gave you and play the horse that’s sure to win? Should you buy that thousand shares of stock that’s just certain to rise and make you a windfall of money, or do you listen to a complete stranger you’ve met while strolling through the woods with your wife... as I have?

Everyone knows life is full of short straws and long, but if you use your intuition and take a gamble, you may turn out a bigger winner than you ever imagined possible in your wildest dreams...
Dumb Things People Say
By: Jeanne Gray

What made me write this book is from overhearing dumb remarks, and questions people ask. You might have heard a few of these over the years or have been guilty to contributing to a few of these questions. (I’ll admit, I am just as guilty for asking dumb questions too). If you really think about it, those dumb questions are really funny. These are really dumb questions that are meant to be taken serious.

“My reply to myself” section is just a sarcastic version of what most people like myself would like to say out loud but wouldn’t dare to. However, it is said with plenty of attitude with the eyes and body language. Can you imagine someone responding out loud with plenty of body and hand language?

For example, Oh! I know he didn’t just ask me that! Can you imagine the head and neck motion or maybe the eyes rolls up in your head from disgust or disbelief. Well, basically this is the way we kind of see ourselves but doing it quietly within ourselves. If only you could really read people minds when you ask a dumb question and you really don’t realize it. Some questions are so foolish it can leave you speechless.

This is just a collection of things people tend to say that comes right off of the top of their heads without any thought; you know the old adage, “Mouth in motion before Brain in gear”. I’m sure you will come up with more of your own experiences that may not be included.

Here are many examples of my favorite dumb things people say. You may find yourself chuckling at a few of these dumb questions and remembering some of the questions you may have heard yourself or may have ask just yesterday.

Clichés And Common Sense
By: Amos Moses Terry
Price: $26.95
Quantity in Basket: none

The South, in by gone days, was a land of “red hills and Cotton”. Amos Moses Terry was a farm youth, back in those days, but he still has memories. Life moved at a much slower pace than it does today. Farmers don’t get in a hurry like urban folks, and back then, the south was ruled by farmers. Cotton was king.

Every land and every generation have their traditions. The traditions of the old South were: “Don’t beat around the bush”. “Get to the point”. “Don’t use any unnecessary words”. Old time Southerners were good at using clichés. Their vocabularies were limited and clichés helped to get their points across.

You will be pleasantly surprised at the common sense interpretations that Amos Moses Terry has given to some 70 of these clichés.
