The Mississippi I Love

The Mississippi I Love is state history written in verse. Poems give tribute to some persons whose lives and works have exemplified the Mississippi pride and love for the state and America. Mississippi history is also told in verse about places dear to the people of the state. Readers will enjoy pictures about people and places in this unique volume.

J. Moffett Walker, author, is a native of Edwards, Mississippi. Walker graduated from Utica Agricultural High School. And, she completed junior college at Hinds College, Utica Campus.

The author earned a Bachelor’s degree in Language Arts from Jackson State University. Her graduate work includes a Master’s degree from Purdue University, in Counseling and Guidance, Hammond, Indiana, Calumet Campus. She earned additional graduate work at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana and Black Hills State Teachers College, Spearfish, South Dakota.

The Indiana retired school counselor and her husband resides in Mississippi.

Her credits include: Church Folk, 2001; Muh (Mother) 2005, and The Powerful Web of Kinfolk, 2006.

She writes a column for three weekly newspapers and one monthly newspaper.

Although The Mississippi I Love, her fourth book, was written primarily for enjoyment, students can profit from the book. It is motivational supplementary material for teaching poetry and or history.
