The Road to the Holy One is a work that provides broad ideas and perspectives on life and the connection to God as revealed through the author’s lens of Christian theology. Social Philosophy on the Path of Life is an interdisciplinary, unempirical work that is philosophical, religious, sociological, poetic, and relevant to the experience of life as seen through the author’s lens of Christian theology. The basis of this work is based on the author’s thirty year experience as an academic sociologist, author, poet, social worker, and community leadership at the local, regional, national, and international levels.

Throughout human history individuals have questioned the meaning of life from within and outside of the theological community. Many have gone further to develop social constructs of theological perspectives in support of their idealism; developed theoretical frameworks; constructed macro and micro theories; and proposed hypotheses for their ideas. This work is one of many, composed of ideas and ideals about life with emphasis on the role of theology in the life of one man amidst billions.

The Social Construction of Theological Inferences is a book that is rooted and grounded in religious philosophy as socially constructed by the author. We live in a world that affects our lives every second. Moreover, what happens to each of us is often bitter sweet and uncertain. All of these experiences give us a broad perspective on life. Therefore, living life leaves us with the right and the potential to develop a philosophy for ourselves that is worthy to share with the world since each of us is a snapshot in time.

Let’s Get Civil enables We the People to conduct productive arguments that lead to good laws and public policies. To do that we must improve both how we think and what we think. That requires full intellectual development. Full intellectual development consists of both cognitive development, the ability to reason; and moral development, the ability to reason morally.

We all become capable of mature reason and mature moral reason around the time students graduate from high school. But too many of us do not develop as we can. Let’s Get Civil shows us how to fix that in families, schools, and society. It also explores the forces that work to undermine our full development, exposes them, and rejects them.

We fix moral philosophy, which has virtually ceased to exist in the U.S., and we reunite moral philosophy with the social sciences. That marriage makes both better. The social sciences are good at studying what is in society, but they also need to know what should be in society. And only moral philosophy has the tools to answer that question. By working together, moral philosophy and the social sciences become more effective and efficient and moral.

Finally, we use the intellectual tools we have developed to build a mature understanding of Economic Justice, Education Justice, Women’s Health Justice, and Social Justice. That understanding allows all of us, all of We the People, to conduct civil, grown up arguments about the laws and public policies we need to become all that our Founding Fathers hoped for us.

In any discipline, you can’t find truth without understanding its tools. Philosophy is no different, yet many non-philosophers try to do philosophy without that understanding, or even knowing that there are philosophical tools.

“The Tools of Philosophy” shows all of the major mechanisms for doing philosophy, and how they are related to each other, and in some cases how some are a consequence of others. We also find reason to believe that all of the major tools of philosophy have one source, one major device, and from that device all of the rest follow.

If we want to know how philosophy is done, how we might actually explore philosophical ideas, and how confident we should be in the answers we get, we need to understand how the tools of philosophy, i.e., the devices, principles, methods, concepts and systems at the foundation of the practice, can be used.

The issues that attract us to philosophy are often specific to us. We can’t just read what other philosophers have said and try to “adopt” or “reject”. Sometimes we need to address our personal concerns uniquely. It might not be clear to those not in philosophy that there are effective ways of addressing those concerns, but there are. They can be made explicit. This is the avenue that “Tools of Philosophy” explores.

You can learn to articulate and address something meaningful to you that you may have assumed was out of your reach. Becoming clear on your concern is getting halfway there. Imagine a book that helps with that.
