The search for the Babylon of the Book of The Revelation of Jesus Christ continues. It becomes obvious that Babylon stands for more than just the City of Babylon that is located in the country of Iraq about fifty miles from the mouth of the Euphrates River. Babylon is a symbol of the capital city of the Kingdoms of this world system that challenges the City of Jerusalem which is representative of the capital of the Kingdom of Heaven. We recall that the Hebrew word Babylon means the gate of god. The word Babel in Genesis 11:9 means confusion. This suggests that it was created as a center for worshipping the god of this world system. At Jerusalem, the Messiah will be worshipped and he will set up his throne in this city which is geographically at the center of the earth. The image Nebuchadnezzar saw, as recorded for us in Daniel 2:31-32, represents the Kingdoms of this world. The stone cut without hands will smash this image, Daniel 2:34-35. “Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.”
You do recall the novel, “Gone with the Wind?” We are talking about the wind of political change or events. Now the stone that was rejected by the builders will be the King of the stone cut out without hand, who is Jesus Christ, Psalms 118:22 and Acts 4:11. Notice that this stone (the Kingdom), develops into a great mountain that will fill the entire earth. King Jesus will destroy the Kingdoms of this World System with great violence and set up the Kingdom of Heaven. This Kingdom is also written about in Revelation 11:15: “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were voices in heaven, saying, The Kingdoms of this world are become the Kingdoms of our God, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”
The legacy of Babylon is the story of the fall of mankind. It is a mighty struggle; it is a battle fought not only with physical weapons, but fought on the battlefield of every man’s heart and mind. This mighty battle was birthed by the hiss of a serpent, a Devil’s lie, and its soldiers and weapons of deception are wielded and enhanced by false messiahs, prophets, miracles, and wonders to behold, to deceive the sons of men. Opposing this army of fallen men, angels and demons in full battle array is the Commander in Chief of the armies of truth and light, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings, Jesus Christ. May I ask you, whose army are you a soldier in?
