Small business makes up 98% of all businesses in America. Growth of small businesses is necessary for long-term productivity, profitability, and sustainability of the community. Small businesses make a significant contribution to the social and economic well-being of societies by creating new jobs and increasing tax revenue for the local community. There are at least 1.4 million small businesses operating across all industries in the United States. When small businesses do not grow or go out of business, families and communities suffer. Another problem associated with the failure of small business is higher unemployment rates for local communities.

If I had to choose a word that describes this book, it would be CHANGE. About 80% of deals are lost over the phone. Of those prospects who do walk through our doors, we are losing 70-75% of them. The industry needs a transformation, and we need it now. People buy on emotions, yet the majority of us sell to the logic. The solution is to stop worrying about the “money” side of the sell and focus on the prospect. If you genuinely care about helping the prospect, the “sell” will take care of itself.

As a sequel to “Selling at Combat Speed,” Mike takes the same concepts and applies them specifically to the senior living industry. In “Stop Selling and Start Caring,” you will be introduced to new concepts and skills that will require you to change your current habits and ways of thinking. The stories and statistics are real. The results are real. The challenging yet rewarding journey is real. The transformation of the industry starts with a personal commitment to change. It will not be easy. You will fail along the way. Few will reach their full potential. Those who learn how to fail and accept failure as a natural stepping stone to success will be victorious. The choice is yours and yours alone. Today is the day. Right now is the time. Be bold. Be different. Choose to stop selling and start caring.

A True Weapon to Conquer the Future

“Importance of Positive Leadership in Today’s Health Care Management” is a tool, a roadmap, a true weapon to conquer the future as the health care industry is becoming a dynamic and more challenging business. Through this book, positive leadership is proved to be vital in this time of change in spite of the challenges surrounding the leaders’ work today, and fundamental in the administration of health care organizations.

The first chapter is the introduction. The second chapter presents a review of the literature. The third chapter describes the methodology used. The fourth chapter constitutes a specific analysis of all the data withdrawn from the books about great leadership’s importance. Finally, the fifth chapter includes a summary, proposed recommendations for resolution, and conclusions that can be drawn.

However, this book is strongly recommended to anyone who wants to be an efficient leader in any field, because it can help develop qualities of good leadership essential for career success.

Book Review

I recently had the privilege and pleasure of reading a profoundly informative book: “Importance of Positive Leadership in Today’s Health Care Management”, written by Josie D. Menelas, M.D., M.H.A. As I read it, one of the first things I noticed was the highly appropriate subtitle: “A True Weapon to Conquer the Future”. This book is packed with excellent information regarding leadership and management, along with their responsibilities in the health care industry. More importantly, from cover to cover, its pages contain an amazing wealth of knowledge that the readers can apply not only to their particular professional endeavors, but also to their roles in life. Whether the reader finds himself or herself serving as a political official, the director of an important health care organization, a highly respected dean of a major university, the pastor of a local church, or even a housewife, he or she will acquire important tools for successfully securing the future.

This is not a book that you read and leave on the bookshelf. This book needs to be kept in a place where it is readily available at all times, for it is an invaluable asset to those in all walks of life. Of all the books I have read on Leadership, this one stands alone in its ability to help the reader become the best leader that he or she can be in his or her individual management position, each with its own unique responsibilities.

“Selling at Combat Speed – Finding the Inner Sales Warrior” is for people who get up in the morning to make a difference in other people’s lives. It is about changing your habits and behaviors, and realizing that your life and those around you depend upon sales. It is designed for those who crawl into the trenches every day, look the enemy square in the eyes, and never give into defeat. When the sales bullets (the average person calls them objections) start flying and while most are running for cover, the real warriors welcome and overcome them. Instead of looking at the customer as the enemy, we share the foxhole with them and together battle through our differences until we reach the common objective. And at the end of the day when the smoke has finally cleared and the dust has settled, it is you, the sales warrior who stands alone.
