Megan Hanna is an ordinary homemaker waiting for her husband, John, to leave his mistress and come home. All alone in a thunderstorm, she delivers her stillborn daughter. The next day, her pregnant friend, Felicity, is brutally murdered in her cellar. After removing the baby from Felicity’s womb, she names her Melissa. She buries her stillborn baby in the backyard and Felicity in Overlook Cemetery.
Megan places a drug dealer at the top of the list of murder suspects because Felicity had become an informant for the police. She also suspects John, whom Felicity claimed raped and impregnated her, besides his mistress, Shelby, who is known as the black widow. Though, the murderer could easily be Scott, Felicity’s lover, or Leah, Scott’s scorned wife.
Whoever killed Felicity knew the layout of the house and knew Megan would save the baby. The murderer sends Megan an anonymous letter to taunt her and later returns to the cellar to murder her and Melissa.
