In the Layman's View, we will see old and new testament prophecy come true before our very eyes. We will understand more fully the individual letters to the seven churches in Asia and how they are affecting our lives today. We will be encouraged with a new hope for the future by the tragedies of our past history.
Jesus tells us in the twenty-form chapter of Matthew, many sorrows are to come upon this earth before his return. He gives examples of natural disasters, diseases and the lawlessness of mankind. He emphasizes earthquakes, tornadoes and volcanoes. Diseases affecting man to the point of death and mankind rising up against each other to the death. Wars will continue to plague the earth until the earth is no more. Jesus uses childbirth as an example to describe these things. The closer we come to the end of the age, the more intense and more frequent these sorrows will become.
We will continue to see the Revelation symbols unfold before us as we begin to understand their meaning. The four horsemen of the seven seals who bring tragedies upon this earth, mans inhumanity against his fellow man. The great red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and the harlot woman who rides this beast. The woman clothed with the sun, crowned with twelve stars.
We will go back into the old testament, to the prophecies of Daniel to learn of the four major empires which ruled this world and the effects they will have during these end times. We will learn of the two Babylon's which have plagued mankind from the beginning. The battles which are to be fought in the valley of Megiddo and the final conflict between Satan and our Lord God Almighty.
It would seem this earth and its inhabitants are in for a rough time. This book of the Revelation gives a bleak future for our world. However, it ends with a beautiful picture of a new heaven and a new earth to all who prevail.
